Mason Bees

Mason Bees moved into the little reeds in this tiny house I got for my garden.

Mason bees(genus Osmia)

Mason bees are ground bees that are semi-social. They will find a long stem, reed or some kind of opening and lay an egg, then seal it with mud. There are two common species in the eastern US, horn-faced and taurus mason bees. I believe these are the horn-faced mason bee(Osmia cornifrons).

I think this one just cleared this reed out, backed out, turned around and scooched back in to lay an egg!
